All the essentials you need to start cooking with cast iron.
Set includes the No. 8 Dutch Oven, the original No. 8 Field Skillet, a 10 ¼" self-basting lid that fits both the Dutch Oven and the skillet, and a No. 9 Griddle.
The skillet's cooking surface is smooth enough that eggs slide right off with just a dab of butter, and the lid fits tight enough that stews barely need stirring. I've used it every night since it arrived and the seasoning has only gotten better.
The self-basting lid is the star here — it fits both the Dutch oven and the skillet perfectly, so one lid does double duty on my stovetop. I've already used the skillet for cornbread and the Dutch oven for stew this week, and cleanup was way less fussy than I braced for.
Got this set to finally ditch my nonstick pans, and the self-basting lid is the star—it fits both the Dutch oven and the skillet perfectly, so I’m not juggling extra lids around the kitchen. First batch of cornbread came out with a crispy crust that my old pans never managed.
