The self-basting ridges on the lid work exactly as promised—juices collect and drip back down, keeping everything moist without extra fuss. It's a hefty set for sure, but the cast iron heats so evenly that I've stopped reaching for my old pans entirely.
The lid is heavy enough to really seal in moisture, and those self-basting ridges make a huge difference for pot roasts. Everything’s pure cast iron, even the knob, so I don’t have to worry about a plastic part melting in the oven.
The lid fits snug enough that steam stays put, and those ridges do a decent job keeping moisture circulating without much fuss. It's a heavy beast, but that's what you want for a solid sear. Took me a few uses to get used to the weight, but worth it.
